प्र1. Indirect speech में बदलें: He said to me, "What is your name?"

  1. He said me what my name was.
  2. He asked me what was my name.
  3. He asked me what my name was.
  4. He asked me that what my name was.
उत्तर: He asked me what my name was.। Wh-प्रश्न बनता है: asked + wh-शब्द + कर्ता + क्रिया (कथन क्रम); 'that' नहीं लगता। अतः: He asked me what my name was.

प्र2. Indirect speech में बदलें: Ravi said, "It is raining."

  1. Ravi said that it was raining.
  2. Ravi said that it had raining.
  3. Ravi told that it was raining.
  4. Ravi said that it rains.
उत्तर: Ravi said that it was raining.। Present continuous (is/am/are + V-ing) बदलकर past continuous (was/were + V-ing) बनता है। अतः: Ravi said that it was raining.

प्र3. Indirect speech में बदलें: The captain said to his team, "Play well."

  1. The captain told his team to play well.
  2. The captain told his team play well.
  3. The captain said his team to play well.
  4. The captain told his team that play well.
उत्तर: The captain told his team to play well.। आदेश बनता है: told/ordered + कर्म + to + V1; नकारात्मक आदेश में 'not to' आता है। अतः: The captain told his team to play well.

प्र4. Indirect speech में बदलें: Mother said to the child, "Who gave you this toy?"

  1. Mother asked the child who gave you this toy.
  2. Mother asked the child that who had given him that toy.
  3. Mother asked the child who had given him this toy.
  4. Mother asked the child who had given him that toy.
उत्तर: Mother asked the child who had given him that toy.। Wh-प्रश्न बनता है: asked + wh-शब्द + कर्ता + क्रिया (कथन क्रम); 'that' नहीं लगता। अतः: Mother asked the child who had given him that toy.

प्र5. Indirect speech में बदलें: She said to him, "Is your father at home?"

  1. She asked him if his father was at home.
  2. She asked him was his father at home.
  3. She asked him that his father was at home.
  4. She asked him if your father was at home.
उत्तर: She asked him if his father was at home.। हाँ/ना प्रश्न बनता है: asked + if/whether + कर्ता + क्रिया (कथन क्रम, प्रश्नचिह्न नहीं)। अतः: She asked him if his father was at home.

प्र6. Indirect speech में हाँ/ना वाला प्रश्न किससे जोड़ा जाता है?
